Problems with getting adequate strain relief and the setscrew interferes with housingMay 6, 2010 NY Audio Tech 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I first purchased the "Belkin PureAV AV54004 Do-It-Yourself Gold Banana Plugs, 4-Pack".
I needed more banana plugs so I found "GLS Audio Black Chrome Series Gold Connector Banana Plugs Banana Clips - 8 Pack (4 Reds & 4 Blacks)GLS Audio Black Chrome Series Gold Connector Banana Plugs - 20 Pack (10 Reds & 10 Blacks)" which are also available through Amazon and are available in larger quantities. In my opinion, the GLS Audio Banana plugs are superior to the Belkin PureAV plugs for two reasons:
1) The design of the strain relief on the Belkin PureAV Banana Plugs is not very good. Even using several layers of shrink tubing to build up insulation thickness didn't help much because I never got a tight fit. The strain relief on the GLS Audio plugs is much better. The connector housing is tapered so as you screw the housing on, it actually clamps down on the shrink tubing/insulation and provides a tight fit.
2) The design of the setscrew which holds the wire on the Belkin PureAV banana plugs is not very good. The setscrew is in line with the connector housing threads and the head of the setscrew can interfere with the connector housing. I used 14-gauge wire and really had to crank the setscrew down to be able to get the connector housing screwed all the way onto the plug. The setscrew on the GLS Audio Banana Plugs is not in line with the connector housing threads so it can't interfere with the housing.
Works wellApril 10, 2010 A. Pirkola(Detroit, MI USA) Based on other reviews I read, purchased some 16 gauge speaker wire. That wiring coupled with these pins has fit my needs perfectly.

Pretty basicMarch 24, 2010 EWG(Deale, MD United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These are easy to use plugs. Certainly much, much easier than just using the speaker wire. My only mild complaint is that they are unnecessarily large.
Nice connector, one problemDecember 19, 2009 Dirk Yang 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Good quality. Easy to install. There is only problem, like other viewers said, large portion of the metal expose to the outside, so the connector may short to other wires by accident.
Poor design - although looks goodDecember 14, 2009 Crusty Analyst (Retired)(Midland, Texas, United States) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I purchased these to help connect my home theater.
After ten transfers, I thought it was time to re-do all the speaker wiring.
After assembly, the banana plug leaves a great deal of conducting material exposed.
I was very concerned about using these on a powerful amplifier if something conductive(pliers, screwdriver, paperclip, etc.) was accidentally dropped on the banana plugs while in use..
I removed these plugs and re-terminated the speaker wire with a more insulated banana plug.
